Pierre BISMUTH
Pierre Bismuth has designed a carpet consisting of several differently coloured parts, whose increasing size matches Fibonacci’s series. It was important for the artist to be able to take the carpet apart and change the pieces around, or even leave parts of the floor uncovered. With the help of LIMITED EDITION
(Mouscron), D&A Lab specially developed a device for this purpose using Velcro. Except for the first two black and white squares, of an identical size, the owner is at liberty to choose the colours of the other parts.
The carpet can be extended endlessly.
ABOUT
Born in Paris in 1963
ives and works in London, New York and Brussels
Pierre Bismuth uses art as a means to examine our perception of reality, especially as regards our
relationship with cultural productions.
Through humour and limited means, he attempts to destabilize the pre-established codes of perception, forcing the viewer to form a critical view of cultural objects whose
meanings are obvious. |
