Michel FRANçOIS
By separating rather than reconciling aesthetics and functionality, Michel François manages to create a three-dimensional designer object using the rapid prototyping technique –in collaboration with MATERIALISE from Leuven – and an object that is also poetic. The white nylon powder forms a tube which
contorts in all directions, while electrical wire passes through it. At the bottom, the wire is 30 centimetres longer and leads to the base of an electric light bulb.
ABOUT
Born 1956 in Sint-Truiden
Lives and works in Brussels
Far from limiting his work to one discipline, Michel François uses all sorts of materials and media. Through his works, he makes a kind of inventory of the world around us. For this purpose, he uses contrasts; sometimes formal, like convex and concave forms, as well as the full and empty, light and dark, etc.
