For whom is the provocative laugh of ‘nen assebak’ intended? Is the devil sticking out his tongue at the smoker, unable to avoid death or is it to Death itself? Whose deathmask is it anyway? Are the ashes gathered here, from a cigarette?

Although the result is executed in traditional porcelain, this amazing ashtray was realised using high-end technology: it starts first with scanning the head of the artist, then transforming this 3D-image slightly to enlarge the mouth area, upon which the head is printed in nylon, using stereolithography, which then can be used to make mutiple moulds for the porcelain process.
