As Edith Dekyndt is extremely interested in natural phenomena and the relationship between the individual spectator and the object, it is no surprise she proposed us the idea of a low table with a floating bubble.
Technically this was no easy matter. Both plates of plexiglass were slightly curved in a heated oven so that the bubble always tries to seek the centre of the table.
The liquid inside cannot shift and will always stay
white, thus giving the illusion of a white laquered table surface. When the surface is touched, the bubble comes alive and will slightly ondulate in various directions. This ‘instability’ is typical for her artistic work.
